Creating a company

From Pilops Wiki

This is the approved revision of this page, as well as being the most recent.

Creating a company takes a few minutes and a one-time founding fee. Open the Companies page and click Found a Company. The wizard has four steps: Details → First hub → Payment → Confirm.

Step 1: details

  • Company name.
  • ICAO: exactly three letters. It becomes the company's callsign and the prefix of every company route code. It cannot be changed after the company is created, so choose carefully.
  • Country.
  • Pilot commission: the percentage of each flight's revenue that goes to the pilot's personal account. It must be between 10% and 50%. See Commission.
  • Company visibility: public (listed for every pilot) or private (visible only to members).
  • Applications: open or closed for new pilots. See Joining a company.
  • Company refuel: whether pilots may use the company's money to refuel company aircraft. See Company fleet and hangars.
  • Description (optional).

Step 2: first hub

Search an airport by ICAO or city, or tap one on the map. The map shows the hubs of other companies at each airport, so you can see where the competition is. This airport becomes the company's first hub and the centre of its operating area, 400 nm around it for a new company. See Hubs and operating area.

The first hub is free and comes with a free small hangar at that airport.

Step 3: payment

The founding fee can be paid from your personal balance in either currency:

Currency Founding fee
Pilops Coins P$ 100,000
Pilop Points Pp$ 1,300

Step 4: confirm

Review the brief and found the company. You become its admin. Every new company starts at the Regional tier. See Company tiers.

Troubleshooting

"Unable to create company"
If the error has no detail, try a hard refresh of the page (Ctrl+Shift+R) and disable any ad blocker for Pilops. An outdated version of the app in your browser is the usual cause.
The ICAO is already in use
ICAO codes are unique across all companies. Pick another one.
