Stands

This is the approved revision of this page, as well as being the most recent.

A stand is a parking position at an airport that you rent for a month at a time. Owning a stand is what lets you create routes from that airport. Stands are the persistent, "real estate" side of the Pilops economy.

Sizes

Stands come in three sizes. The size limits how much the routes leaving the stand can generate and how many routes it can hold.

Size Weight capacity Passenger capacity Routes Rent per month (Pp$) Rent per month (P$)
Small 8,000 lb 120 4 200 10,000
Medium 24,000 lb 400 6 400 30,000
Large 90,000 lb 1,500 10 800 150,000

Rent can be paid in Pilop Points or Pilops Coins. How many stands of each size exist at an airport depends on the airport's size. See Airport size and demand.

Renting a stand

Open the airport's page, go to the Stands tab, pick a free stand and rent it. The rent covers one month. You can rent as yourself or on behalf of a company you administer. A company can only rent stands inside its operating area. See Hubs and operating area.

Renewing

A stand expires one month after it was rented. You can renew it manually at any time, which adds a month to the current expiry.

Auto-renew does it for you. When you turn it on, you choose which currency to charge (Pilop Points or Coins). You can also tick Use the other currency if there isn't enough balance, so Pilops tries the second currency before letting the stand go.

Renewal attempts start 24 hours before expiry and are retried every hour until the stand expires. If your balance is too low on the first attempt, you have until the expiry time to top up.

When a stand expires

If a stand is not renewed, it is released. All routes starting from that stand are deleted, and the jobs they had generated disappear. Another pilot can then rent the stand. There is no grace period beyond the hourly retries described above, so keep an eye on the Renews in timer on the stand page.
