Flight cancellation

A cancelled flight is one that ends without being saved: nothing is paid, nothing is delivered, and the jobs on board go back to the pool at the airport they were loaded from. Fuel bought for the flight stays in the aircraft.
Cancelling it yourself
- Before connecting
- On the Active Flight page, Cancel in the footer asks "Cancel preparation? Are you sure you want to cancel this flight preparation? Unsaved changes will be lost." The plan is discarded and the aircraft is free again.
- While flying
- In the Pilops Client, Cancel flight asks "Are you sure you want to cancel this flight?" The flight ends on the spot.
- Company flights
- Company admins can cancel a flight a member is preparing or flying with a company aircraft ("Are you sure you want to cancel this flight? This action cannot be undone."). See Roles and permissions.
Cancelled by the client
While a flight is tracked, the client watches for things that would make the flight meaningless. Any of them cancels the flight immediately, with no partial credit:
- Position jump — the aircraft moves more than 2 nautical miles between two readings. Slew, teleporting from the map and the MSFS replay all do this.
- Simulation rate — the sim rate is anything other than 1x.
- Fuel added — fuel appears in the tanks and the confirmed gain exceeds 5% of the tank capacity. Refuel on the website before you connect, not in the simulator.
- Fuel not burning — the engines report fuel flow but the tank level does not drop, as with the unlimited-fuel assistance.
- Rental expired — the aircraft's rental period ends during the flight. The app warns you with "If the rental period ends, your flight will be automatically cancelled." when less than 24 hours remain. See Renting an aircraft.
The client itself cannot restore a cancelled flight, and neither can anyone else: the flight time is lost. Plan again and fly it again.
Cancelled automatically
Flights nobody is flying are swept up every hour:
| Situation | Cancelled after |
|---|---|
| The flight started in the simulator but the client stopped reporting | 24 hours of silence |
| A company flight that was planned but never started | 24 hours |
| A personal flight that was planned but never started | 7 days |
A planned flight holds its jobs, so the sweep exists to return them to everyone else. Company flights get the shorter deadline because they also hold a company aircraft.
Starting over
If the simulator crashed or you want to restart a flight that already began, the client offers Reschedule flight on the preflight screen. It clears the tracking of the current flight and puts it back in the "not started" state with the same load and fuel, so you can load the simulator at the origin and connect again.
