This is the approved revision of this page, as well as being the most recent.

The Marketplace is where pilots sell used aircraft to each other. A seller lists an aircraft at a price; a buyer with a free hangar slot pays it and the aircraft, with its hours and cycles, changes hands.

Selling

  1. Open the aircraft and choose to list it. You need to be at least level 10 to create a listing.
  2. Set the price. It must be at least 25% of the aircraft's catalog price.
  3. Pay the listing fee: 11% of your asking price, charged when the listing goes live. The fee is not refunded if you cancel or if nobody buys.
  4. The listing stays up for 90 days, then expires.

While listed the aircraft has the status Listed and cannot fly. You can cancel the listing at any time and the aircraft goes back to your fleet.

Rented aircraft cannot be listed. Companies can list their aircraft too; the listing is managed by the company.

Buying

  • Every listing shows the aircraft's condition: engine hours, cycles, tyres and brakes. Check them against the limits in Maintenance before paying; an aircraft close to AOG will need an expensive engine service soon.
  • You need a hangar with a free slot. The aircraft is delivered to the hangar you choose.
  • You cannot buy your own listing, personal or company.

Tips

  • Compare with the catalog: a used aircraft near the 25% floor with low hours is a bargain; one at 90% of the new price with high cycles is not.
  • The 11% fee comes out of your pocket before the sale, so price with it in mind.
