Editing — the basics of changing a page on Pilops Wiki. Any pilot with a Pilops account can edit any page, including the reference sections. If you spot a mistake or an empty section you can fill, go ahead.
Signing in
Click Log in and use your Pilops account. There is no separate wiki password; the wiki signs you in through the same login as the game. Your wiki username is your Pilops nickname.
Making an edit
- Open the page and click Edit. The visual editor opens: it looks like a document and you type into it directly.
- Make your change. Headings, lists, bold and links are in the toolbar. To link to another wiki page, select the text, click the link button and type the page title.
- Click Save changes, describe what you changed in one line, and confirm.
If you prefer to write wikitext, the pencil icon in the toolbar switches to Edit source. The most used markup:
== Heading ==for a section,=== Subheading ===for a subsection.boldanditalic.* itemfor a bulleted list,# itemfor a numbered one.Fuellinks to the page Fuel;refuellingshows the word refuelling instead.on the last line puts the page in that category.
Review
Edits are saved at once but go through a quick review before visitors see them. While signed in you see the latest version; visitors see the last approved one. There is nothing to request: saved edits enter the queue on their own.
Conventions on reference pages
The reference sections (Getting started, Flying, Fleet, Airports, Economy, Companies, Account, Community) follow a few habits that keep them consistent:
- English first. Reference pages are written in English and translated from there. Do not translate them by editing the English page; use the Translate link that appears on pages marked for translation.
- Use the labels the app uses, in bold, when you refer to a button or a screen: Finish and save flight, Fits Capacity.
- Numbers only when verified. Prices, capacities and percentages change between updates. If you are not sure, describe the rule without the number.
- Link, do not repeat. If a mechanic has its own page, link to it instead of explaining it again.
- Keep the community voice. Pages are written by pilots for pilots.
Pages that still have the This page is still empty box at the top are waiting for someone to write them. Remove the Stub line when you fill one in.
Translating
Reference pages marked for translation show a Translate this page link at the top. It opens the translation tool, where the page is split into short units you translate one at a time. Any signed-in user can translate. Community tutorials are not translated this way; they stay in the language they were written in.
