Passenger classes

This is the approved revision of this page, as well as being the most recent.

Passenger classes are the kinds of passengers you can carry. Most groups are regular passengers; a few are Executive or Tourist groups, which pay more and only board certain aircraft.

Regular passengers

The default class. Any aircraft with free seats can carry them. Group sizes and prices follow the airport: see Cargo and passengers.

Executive passengers

  • Pay 3 times the regular price.
  • Travel in groups of 1 to 3.
  • Board jets only. Propeller, turboprop and airliner aircraft cannot take them.
  • Can appear on any leg, whatever the airports' sizes or the distance. Roughly one passenger group in ten is executive.

Tourist passengers

  • Pay 1.3 times the regular price.
  • Travel in groups of 1 to 3.
  • Board propeller and turboprop aircraft only.
  • Appear on legs where at least one end is a small or medium airport. Never between two large airports.
  • Prefer short trips: up to 150 nm the chance of a tourist group is at its highest (one in five among non-executive groups); it fades with distance and reaches zero at 400 nm.

How they are assigned

When a passenger group is created, Pilops first rolls for Executive. If that misses and the leg is eligible, it rolls for Tourist. Otherwise the group is regular.

Choosing the right aircraft

A special group is only offered to an aircraft of an allowed category. Executive groups are the reason to keep a jet around at a busy airport; tourist groups reward small aircraft on short regional hops. See Aircraft catalog for the categories.
